LOREAL PARIS NEW REVEIEW

Hair Color Review: Loreal Paris Ultra Light Ash Brown FOR DARK HAIR + Other Product Reviews

We have been using L’Oreal Paris’s new Hip Color Presso Lip Gloss and Hip Kohl Eyeliner for the past few days. Here is what we think:

The lip gloss is great. It comes in a little, portable applicator with two colors. You squeeze one or both tubes in order to get your desired color. The gloss is not at all sticky, and the color combinations work well together if you decide to wear both at once. It adds a perfect amount of gloss and shine while smelling delicious.
The eyeliner is very chalky and does not adhere to the skin well. After applying it, we had to wipe away little particles which smudged all over. This is very bad if you are in a rush to do your makeup. Plus, the black comes out grayish, which does not translate to eyes that pop.

My Beauty Essentials

I'd have to say I am not HUGE into makeup. Maybe it's the fact that I just still can't get my eyes to look like Kim Kardashian's and that it's just getting frustrating to keep attempting. My usual day to day beauty routine is quite simple with just a few staples that I wear each and every day. Usually I'll wear my Bobbi Brown corrector because it's frankly the best damn concealer ever created. MAC blush on the apples of my cheeks so I look alive and always OPI nail color. Some mascara to finish it off however, this is the one item I don't have an absolute favorite of. I try new ones each time and have yet to fall in love with a mascara that I can't live without. Currently I'm using Bobbi Brown's since I ran out at the same time my concealer did and was too lazy to try out any other mascara at any other make up counter.
If it's a special occasion, I'll usually add a few extras for all you folks out there to enjoy like eyeshadow and fun lipstick. If you're going to put on eyeshadow, I suggest you don't ever put on any eyeshadow ever again until you buy Benefit's Stay Don't Stray. It makes your eyeshadow stick to your eyelids for days. Eyeliner is a must and waterproof is ideal. And if I'm feeling a little frisky, red lipstick it is. I'll even add a smokey eye if I can get it just right.
une 2011 Favorites and Beauty Essentials
I've never done a monthly favorites before but I figure I should start. It's always fun to know what other people's favorites are. I think it also gives you an idea of what they like, to know a little more about them, and give you more ideas on products you may want to try.
Since this is my first monthly favorites, I'm going to focus on my beauty essentials. The products I will mention on this post are products I use either daily or reach for the most often. They are what I consider my beauty essentials.

MAKEUP

1. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation. I use shade Buff 5C, just in case you are wondering. A review for this is long overdue.
2. Revlon Photoready foundation. I use Nude 004. This is a little lighter than I would like but I can make it work if I contour my face. This has shimmers in it so if you don't like shimmers and dewy finishes, you will not like this foundation.
3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I use shade medium light. This is my HG face powder. I plan to do a review on this face powder so I will talk more about it later.
4. Milani Baked Blush. I've been reaching for these a lot every since I bought them. The shades I used the most are Luminoso and Berry Amore.
5. Benefit Erase Paste. Very creamy and does a good job at covering my blemishes and scars.
6. NARS Blush/Bronzer Trio. This palette holds NARS most coveted face powders: Orgasm, Laguna, and Albatross.
7. MAKE UP FOREVER HD powder. I have yet to review this powder. I also plan to compare it with the ELF HD powder.
8. MAKE UP FOREVER Aqua Liner 13 (black). Waterproof, smudge-proof, long-wearing, very pigmented deep black liquid liner.
9. Physicians Formula Gel Cream liners. I mostly use the black one. It's not just straight up black but it has very fine colored glitter in it. I'm normally not a huge fan of gel/cream liners but I've been using these a lot lately. The consistency of this gel is very easy to work with and last all day.
10. Urban Decay Primer Potion. This is the only thing I've been using to prime my lids for the past year. I have the XL bottle and it's been lasting me forever, lol. I can't wait to get the one with the new packaging.
SKINCARE

11. LUSH Coco Lotion. Prior to this lotion, I was a huge fan of baby lotions because they absorbed very quickly and don't leave a greasy feeling afterward. The wonderful thing is when I use this lotion, I don't end up smelling like a baby and I get the same result of the baby lotion, lol. I love the soft and subtle coconut scent.
12. Boscia Restorative Night Cream. All I gotta say is I've been really impressed with this skincare brand. It's expensive but is everything that I want in a face cream.
13. Boscia Enlivening Amino-AG Eye Treatment. The softness and texture of this gel is amazing. You will love this if you don't mind the price.
14. Shiseido White Lucent face lotion. It can't get rid of my freckles unfortunately but it's light-weight and does a good job at keeping my skin moisturized without feeling heavy and greasy. This large bottle is a bit expensive but will last you a long time because a little goes a long way.
15. Lancome Bi-Facil makeup remover. Pricey but very effective and effortless at removing waterproof eye makeup and also feels gentle on the skin.
16. Lancome Genefique. It's expensive but I bought it because I got a huge discount for it and wanted to see if it does anything for me. I'm probably not the best candidate to review this since I don't really have problematic skin but I still plan on reviewing this. I've been using this for 3 months now.
17. LUSH Angel on Bare Skin face cleanser. I've been loving this since the day I got it. I plan to review this.

Is there really lead in lipstick?
Some of you may remember that years ago we all got emails talking about lead in lipstick and asking us to check for lead by rubbing the lipstick with a ring. It started off as a hoax email and then it turned out to be true. That was a hoax which wish was actually a hoax. As it turns out most lipsticks do in fact contain very small amounts of lead, which the manufacturers claim occurs naturally in some ingredients and is essential for the colour.
So is lead in your lipstick safe?
The cosmetic companies argue that the amount of lead is extremely small; too small to worry about, so the jury is really out on whether it's OK for us to be using lots of lipstick with teeny bits of lead in it. Other people, such as John O'Toole, CEO of Living Nature will argue that 'there is no safe amount of lead.' I'm not a scientist, so I cannot answer the question, but I do know that unfortunately lead builds up in the body over time and with so many fabulous natural options on offer, I’m happy to keep lead out of my lipstick. And it’s said that the average woman consumes a couple of kilos of lipstick in her lifetime, so I’d rather mine were made of edible ingredients.

Why is lead allowed?
Well, lead in lipsticks isn't allowed everywhere. The European Union bans lead in all lipsticks but unfortunately New Zealand has a little legal loophole that allows trace elements in cosmetics to go undisclosed. Australia requires that all ingredients be listed on cosmetics and a warning sign if it contains any lead at all. So it's a bit shitty that New Zealand doesn't help consumers make an informed decision. The other reality is, lead is in so many parts of the home. It’s in pre-1978 paint, pre-1976 toys and furniture, many painted toys and decorations, fishing sinkers, curtain weights and much more. However, if I can keep it out of my mouth I will.
I have never tried anything Jane Iredale until this lipstick. Being that the brand is not readily available, I have just never had much exposure to it. When I got this lipstick in my most recent beauty test tube, I was very excited to try it out. The packaging is not super exciting but also not boring or ugly, a plain shiny yellow gold tube embossed with Jane Iredale's name.
The formula is pretty good, not really drying but not moisturizing. I would have to say that it is not much better than most drugstore lipsticks that I have tried. That is, except for the fact that it is quite pigmented. Catherine is a nice brown, red. Brick would be an appropriate name for it. In full opacity, it is probably more appropriate for night on my NC20ish skin, but it can be sheered out quite easily. I am willing to postulate that it would look amazing on olivey skinned people.

My previous experience with a lip stain were not so great. As well as my first and only experience with a lip product that promises plumping results. I had tried Benefit’s Lip and Cheek Tint. Its supposedly like this coveted beauty product…..insert rolling of the eyes and big pfhh! here ——->
Sorry, I’m not buyin’ it. It was disgusting. I don’t get what anyone see in it. And my first and last for that matter, experience was with Bare Minerals Buxom Gloss,…..*ducks and hides* Sorry BE girls…that product is AWFUL! Instantly felt like it was burning my lips but then they were also numb at the same time……ridiculous!
The shade that I am reviewing is Craving. I have a confession to make. At first I didn’t think I liked it. I thought the shade was off. Turns out, you just need very little. And then it was like the most perfect sheer nude, slightly pink shade. Love it.
Then it dries in like one hot second. It was quick. What I noticed was that my lips hadn’t felt like they had been put in a space bag, and sucked in really tight. It didn’t have that super dried up feeling.
One of my favorite things about this gloss, is a not so obvious one. But for me, I was like WooHoo! Once you’ve had the gloss on for a while and you’d expect your lips to dry up, it didn’t. It left my lips with the nice creamy consistancy you’d get from a lip balm. It was very moisturizing. I really liked it. And I also felt it did plump my lips up as well. But I never felt that scary numbness or burning that I felt with the previous brand
It was a nice experience. So nice, I might just need to own them all. I do believe when I write my Multi-Tasking Mama Post, This will be the gloss. The color pretty much the whole day and I think I re-applied the gloss like twice. What a time saver!

Mary Kay Mineral Eye Shadow

Makeup Tutorial 3 Mac Mineral Eye Shadow Trio Togetherness

In 2007, I was introduced to the best make up I had EVER tried out in my whole 20 years of life! I simply fell in love with it and here is how it all happened. Well, when you go to a Mary Kay make up/ skin care party, you get to spend the afternoon (or whenever you can) with friends, being pampered by the Mary Kay beauty consultant and the best part is: YOU TRY ALL THE PRODUCTS FOR FREE! I pretty much got a spa treatment during a whole afternoon. When it was over i had learn so much about skin care and make up tricks that i ended up buying a lot of products for myself!!!
So, since Mary Kay products last FOREVER, i didn't need to buy them till 2009 when i was back in Brazil. I started looking around town for a Mary Kay beauty consultant and i finally found one. The prices in Brazil though, were more expensive than buying them here in the U.S. so the best solution for me was becoming a Mary Kay beauty consultant! That way, i started to make money, paying my bills and my wedding vendors with my mary kay income and also got to buy my lovely products for way less.
With Mary kay, i had the opportunity of meeting some national sales directors of the company, and also, participating on events, even as a model for Isnaldo Braga, a bridal make up artist considered the best in my state. On that event, he used only mary kay products for my make up - and he knows products baby, he actually had worked in france at Yves Saint Laurent company- and i looked so gorgeous specially after he added the veil and accesories! Check it out....
But anyways, back to the story, My life changed 360o as i got married, and i had to stop selling mary kay, moving back to America. I started to buy my mary kay products online again paying the regular prices. Since i didnt have a consultant yet, i decided to try other brands...NAME IT AND I PROMISED I HAVE TRIED IT. None of them can compare to mary kay. Seriously, here are some of the brands I have tried:
MAC
LANCOME
DIOR
YVES SAINT LAURENT
ESTEE LAUDER
REVLON
LOREAL
MAYBELINE
LONDON
MAKE UP FOREVER
PHYSICIANS FORMULA
CLINIQUE
CHANEL
AVON
NATURA
ROC
CLEAN CLEAR
VICTORIA SECRETS
GIVANCHY
SHISEIDO
Now, let me clarify something here: IM NOT SAYING THESE PRODUCTS ARE BAD AT ALL, IN FACT, THEY ARE REALLY GOOD AND I WOULD USE THEM WITHOUT A PROBLEM. But mary kay keep it simple and affordable and thats why all these other brands cant beat it!
Besides, mary kay not only let you try out for free, but actually TEACHES you how use them, how to take care of your skin and even if you DON'T like, 100% money back IS guaranteed!
Now, what can be better than this???????????????
